Things are happening! Are you in?

News –

Here we go! What an amazing first few weeks of the church year here at First Universalist—great energy, delicious food, and a successful Finish the Promise campaign. Things are happening! I’m here to report that our small group culture is off and running, with groups meeting throughout the week, culminating in a busy time slot after services on Sunday. It really has been a sight to behold for me, the hunger for connection shines through so clearly. The more we can connect with ourselves and each other, the more we can connect with the world. This place gets it.

I want you all to know that if you’re looking for a group to plug into, there’s still time! We have a few groups who are still looking to round out their rosters that I’d like to highlight: We have openings for our Chalice Circle on Wednesday night, which meets every other Wednesday evening (October 7 was their first session). Chalice Circles are a great space to discuss the monthly worship themes with new folks, getting to know both the direction of the church, and the people here, better. I know the Wednesday night folks would love to have you if you’re interested!

Feeling a little down about the state of the world and need some relationship? Connecting with Meaning in Times of Uncertainty is looking for a few more folks who are looking to put words to the times that we find ourselves in. This is a group that meets Sunday after services, so there will be childcare provided as well.

If you’re going through a difficult time, and are looking for community and connection, there are a variety of groups that may appeal to you. There’s a Grief Group that meets on Zoom, a Caregivers Group on Zoom, a group for folks with Mild Cognitive Impairment, and a Care Partners Support Group in person for folks who are caring for a partner/spouse struggling with mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s, or dementia. Please know that this church is here for you.

Small groups are such an amazing avenue to get plugged in and connected with the community here at First U. They are spaces where we can practice our Unitarian Universalist values of justice, equity, transformation, pluralism, interdependence, and generosity in real time. All with love at the center. I hope you all can find a group that sings to you.

With love,
Cas
