Finish The Promise: We did it!

News –

WE DID IT! In just a little more than three months we raised—or, more accurately stated, you contributed and pledged—enough money to pay off First Universalist’s $1,340,000 construction loan. The children’s book, The Little Engine That Could, is chugging through my mind: it seemed like an impossible task, but one gift at a time we’ve done it. On Sunday, we shared the announcement during the service and celebrated with cake and lots of high-fives. Rev. Jen Crow’s smile was almost as wide as the pulpit.

There are still a few logistics. As anyone who’s ever paid off a legally binding loan will know, there are still some behind-the-scenes details to hammer through with the bank. Because we’ve been paying down the loan as gifts have come in, lowering interest payments and increasing principal paydown along the way, the Finance Committee is working with Sunrise Bank to determine the dollars and cents of the final payoff number. As soon as that’s done and we are legally released from the loan, we’ll let you know. And we’ll celebrate again!

It can’t be said enough—thank you.
