Worship this summer at First U

Spring into Summer! Over the Summer, we shift our Sunday morning rhythm and worship together with one service at 10 a.m. offered both in-person and livestreamed. Our Summer worship schedule begins this year on Sunday, May 10 (Mother’s Day) and continues through Sunday, September 13 (Water Communion).

For kids and youth: May 10 is a Common Ground Sunday during the single 10 a.m. service. Kids and youth of all ages begin in worship and are dismissed together to the Cummins Room, while childcare is provided as usual for our nursery-preschoolers. Beginning on Sunday, May 17 and continuing most Sundays until September 13, we will offer childcare for our nursery-preschoolers during our 10 a.m. worship services. All older kids and youth are welcome in the Sanctuary during worship on Summer Sundays – there is no separate children’s programming over the summer.

Noteworthy dates for summer worship:

  • May 10: Beginning of summer worship at 10 a.m.; Common Ground Sunday for kids and youth
  • May 17: Coming of Age recognition, Religious Education break begins (no RE classes, childcare for nursery-preschool only)
  • May 31: Bridging Ritual
  • June 14: Flower Communion
  • June 21: General Assembly Sunday at the Riverview Theater
  • September 6: Lake Harriet Worship
  • September 13: Water Communion
  • September 20: Return to two worship services, 9 and 11 a.m.
