Oodles of info: Early Voting, and an easy way to support Election Protection

News –

Voting Made Easy:

Early Voting in person has started! Find your Early Voting locations, where you can cast your ballot directly into a ballot counter. At church each Sunday, we’ll invite those who have voted, to drop a colorful chip in the vase at the pulpit (or narthex) so we can mark the progress as our community votes early!

Our team is offering rides to the polls for EARLY VOTING after services for MINNEAPOLIS voters. We’ll depart from church at 11:30 on Sunday, October 25, and Sunday, November 1.

We encourage you to VOTE EARLY and reach out to five people to help them to make a plan to vote. Remind absentee voters that ballots must be RECEIVED by Nov. 3. Check your registration here. You can register at the polls when you vote. Find your sample ballot, and other information here (MN SOS), plus information on candidates and ballot issues here (MPR), or here (LWV).

Please stop by our table in the Social Hall after worship for more information or email Margie Nalezny (mnlzny [at] yahoo.com) or Jenny Thomas (jjt [at] jjthomas.net).

Election Protection – What can YOU Do?

The answer is easy…receive a phone call and make phone calls (maybe text) from a trusted person to trusted friends.

It is an old-fashioned telephone tree!

Stop at the Democracy Defense table in the social hall for more information or add your name to the tree on Sunday morning.  OR contact Jane Jordan (janejordan124 [at] gmail.com).

Why do this?  There may be turmoil with the election results.

First Universalist is in partnership with UNIDOS to use their expertise for after-election results protection. Unidos will call their main contact at First U, who will call their people, who will call their people, etc., to share the action needed.

You don’t need to take part in the action if you aren’t able to at that time. Your role is to pass the message on to your people.

We are not alone. This is being done in partnership with 20 other churches, unions, and many other organizations.  Metro Surge taught us about the power of the people. Add your power.
