Highlighting a few upcoming places to connect and learn

News –

Chalice Circles:

With Sign-up Sunday right around the corner, we want to give a little boost to our Chalice Circles program this year. Chalice circles are groups that meet every other week for six weeks, and they center around the monthly worship themes. They are open to all congregants, and are a great space to meet and bond with new people! First Universalist’s Community Connections Coordinator, Cas Burr, will supply each group with a monthly theme packet that contains resources such as books, quotes, podcasts, questions, and more. The worship theme for October is: “We are a people of practice. This is what we do.”

There are two options for Chalice Circles this Fall:

The Wednesday evening circle (7:00pm-8:30pm in the Library) will have its first meeting on Wednesday, October 7. This group will be facilitated by Shane Weinand and Karen Kingsley.

The Sunday midday Chalice Circle (11:30am-12:45pm in Room 200 – childcare provided) will have its first meeting on Sunday, October 11. This group will be facilitated by Cindy Marsh and Clyde Derrick.

We hope that you consider Chalice circles this year!

Facilitator training on October 4:

Join our new Community Connections Coordinator, Cas Burr, for a Facilitator Training on Sunday, October 4 from 11:30am-12:45pm in the Cummins Room. This is open to any person who might be interested in helping facilitate a group/program, and has interest in learning more about how First Universalist holds groups. We are always looking for new folks to join our facilitator pipeline, and this is a prime opportunity to learn our facilitation methods and meet other facilitators. This session is open to new and experienced facilitators alike!

White Men For Racial Justice:

Are you a white man (cis or trans) who wants to join a group of other white men and work on unpacking bias, growing multicultural awareness, and building your racial justice reflection and practice? If yes, then this is the group for you! White Men For Racial Justice (WMFRJ) is a national program with a chapter here in the Twin Cities, and we are hosting their fall cohort this year at First Universalist. This group will meet on Monday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00pm in room 209, starting this coming Monday, October 21, and going through Monday, November 9.
