“There is more love somewhere.”

From First U Music Director, Paolo Debuque:

My heart is so, so heavy. All I want is to sing simple songs together. At last night’s vigil at First U, “There is more love somewhere” was one of these songs we kept coming back to. This morning it’s still in me, but with a renewed depth of tragedy.

There is more love somewhere,
There is more love somewhere,
I’m gonna keep on ‘til I find it.
There is more love somewhere.

“There is more love somewhere,” recorded on January 24, 2026, by Paolo Debuque.

This hymn was written by Bernice Johnson Reagon, a singer-songwriter, organizer and activist who died in 2024. It was written in honor of Steve Biko, an “anti-apartheid activist who spearheaded the Black Consciousness Movement in South Africa.” In 1977, Biko was killed by police.
