Our Music Ministry Team: Bringing shared ministry to life at First U

A message from Rev. Jen Crow, Senior Minister

As we continue stepping into this next chapter of shared ministry at First Universalist Church of Minneapolis, I’m glad to share some joyful news about our music ministry team.

After a meaningful season of leadership and collaboration, Paolo is now settling into an ongoing role with our congregation. I’m deeply grateful for the creativity, steadiness, and collaborative spirit Paolo brings to worship and community life. Paolo continues the work of stitching us together in song, helping harmonies become not just something we sing, but a way we practice being together.

I’m also delighted to officially welcome Jay Albright as accompanist. Many of you have already experienced Jay’s gifted musicianship over these past months, and I’m excited that he will now be a continuing part of our music ministry. As a pianist, Jay brings joy, adaptability, and decades of experience to worship.

And Aimee will continue in her role as Artist in Residence, bringing her incredible theater background to our community as a kind of spiritual connective tissue across generations, helping create meaningful experiences for people of all ages.

Together, Paolo, Jay, and Aimee form a strong music ministry team that will help lead and sustain worship in the years ahead. One of the things I value most about congregational music is that singing together and making music together are ways we practice being a community. We breathe together. We listen to one another. We make something together that none of us could create alone.

Welcome, Jay Albright, First U Accompanist!

Jay Albright (he/him) was originally born in central Indiana, the son of a Church of God preacher. He pursued a theater degree at the University of Evansville before arriving in the Twin Cities in 1989.

He is primarily an actor and over the past thirty six years has worked and played at many theaters about town. Maybe you’ve seen him in something.

He his very excited to be part of the First Universalist team.
