June 14 is No Kings Day: Join First U Folks!

News –

June 14 is “No Kings Day.” Many of us want to participate in the march and rally in St Paul, and would like to go together!  Here are some plans to make that easier:

1.     Some of us will gather at First U at 10:00 am for a short blessing and to form carpools. Leave at 10:30 in cars.  If you are driving to St Paul, note that I-94 will be closed in both directions, from 35W to Huron St.  Parking will also be very challenging.  Bike, transit, or rideshare are good options.

2.     Some of us will arrive on our own (car, uber, bike, light rail) at St Paul College around 11:45, and then march to the Capitol at 12. Look for the group with blue and white helium balloons wearing yellow shirts.

3.     All of us will arrive at the Capitol at 1 pm for the Rally: Look for the group with blue and white helium balloons wearing yellow shirts, at the south edge of the Capitol lawn, along Rev. Dr. MLK Jr.Blvd.

If a big rally isn’t your thing, several other rallies are happening in the metro area (Bloomington, Minnetonka, and more), at various times on Saturday.

Here’s a great article about how to prepare, if you haven’t been to a large rally before.   The basics: Wear close-toed walking shoes.  Bring whatever you need for being out in the sun (or rain) for a while.

And if you can’t go at all, and want to donate, Indivisible is the group sponsoring all this.  Chip in for a potty for the rest of us!

This is the work of our church, our faith’s calling to social justice.
