The Faithful Action Council cultivates opportunities for church members and friends to put their faith into action working for justice and addressing systemic inequity. Our faith calls us into action and our faithful action ministry is one thread of the positive cycle of change that we are committed to at First Universalist Church. Through education, advocacy, direct service, and generosity we are living out our UU values, working toward a just, equitable and vibrant Beloved Community.
The council focuses the faithful action work of the church through Faithful Action Community Partnerships and by supporting faithful action leadership across the church.
Council Membership
The Faithful Action Council is a group of open-hearted and committed congregants coming together out of a love for our greater community, and inspired by our faithful action leadership. The Council welcomes members that represent a breadth of perspectives from the congregation at large, from groups within the church working for social justice, and from within our Community Partnerships.
Current Faithful Action Council members include Jeanne Guignon, Autumn Huiras, Meleah Houseknecht, Cindy Marsh, Jeff Snyder. The Council is chaired by Meleah Houseknecht and Cindy Marsh. Council membership is determined through an open conversation between co-chairs, and the potential and current council members.
The work of the council generally takes place in a once-monthly meeting, with options to dive more deeply into work between meetings as energy and time allows. We ask council members to commit to a two-year term of service, with the option to continue on for additional terms. If you are interested in learning more about serving on the council please contact us at faithfulaction@firstuniv.org.
