Hold it together with us
News –
As we approach the beginning of the church year, we have open opportunities for YOU to spend time with our kids and youth this year!
You don’t need to be experienced in a classroom, just willing to learn with and from our youth and youngsters. You will be thoroughly supported and oriented by staff and your kindred volunteers, and all needed materials will be provided. Our kids and youth are thoughtful, funny, and kind, and you will benefit from your time with them just as they’ll benefit from time with you. All adult volunteers will be background checked before serving with minors.
We need to fill all of these roles in order to launch our programs on September 20. Please faithfully consider whether you can…
- Volunteer with Sunday Morning Religious Education! Religious Education is concurrent with worship at 10 a.m. The volunteer commitment is approximately twice per month.
- We need 4 additional volunteers each (12 volunteers total) to join our Kindergarten-1st grade, 2nd-3rd grade, and 4th-5th grade teams. These age groups focus on our UU shared values through story and play.
- We need 2 additional volunteers to join our 7th grade team. Our 7th graders focus on what it means to be Unitarian Universalist, what it means to be part of First Universalist Church, and what it means to exist in a diverse faith landscape – including site visits to local UU congregations!
- Volunteer with our High School Youth Group! Youth Group meets after worship on Sundays from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. and on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:15 p.m. The volunteer commitment is approximately three sessions per month.
- We need 1 additional Advisor to join this team. This is a relaxed values-based social environment for youth in 9th-12th grades. Activities include games, creative projects, and discussion.
- Help with administrative tasks! These include printing, organizing, and preparing materials for Religious Education on Thursday mornings in-person at the church. We need 4 additional volunteers to join this team.
If you can fill any of these volunteer roles or would like to learn more about them, please email Allison Connelly-Vetter, Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries, at allison@firstuniv.org – you’ll make her day.
