A Message of Gratitude: Welcoming the UU Trauma Response Ministry Team
News –
We are profoundly grateful to be welcoming four members of the Unitarian Universalist Trauma Response Ministry (UUTRM) team to our community this weekend. Members of the team are joining us from the larger UU world to offer specialized care and support as we navigate the ongoing impacts of the ICE occupation in Minneapolis.
The UUTRM team brings special training and a deep commitment to service. Their main hope is to be a resource for our community, especially for those who have been most deeply impacted by the occupation. We are so thankful for their presence and expertise during this important time of sustained resistance, healing, and support.
Since 2002, the UU Trauma Response Ministry (UUTRM) has provided timely, multilevel, culturally sensitive spiritual care to survivors of mass disasters and other critical incidents that may lead to congregational trauma. We help ministers and lay leaders return their congregations to stability. Their ministry is designed for the acute phase following a critical incident or disaster, with training and resources focused on early and short-term interventions, and the possibility of referrals for longer-term needs.
For more information about the UUTRM and their work, you can visit their website at uutrm.org.
Join Us for Worship and Gathering
We encourage you to join us this Sunday, February 22nd, for worship, where Rev. Rosemary Bray McNatt will be leading alongside Rev. Jen Crow and Paolo Debuque.
Following worship, we will host an open congregational gathering with members of the UUTRM team from 1:00 to 2:30 PM (in person only, in the Social Hall). This will be an opportunity to meet the team and receive some of the support they are offering. Other times to meet with the team will take place throughout the week for specific groups, including:
- UU Clergy and Religious Professionals, Sunday 2/22 5:30-7:30pm at church
- BIPOC Congregant Group, Monday, 2/23, 7-8:30pm in person and on-line
- Sanctuary and Resistance Team, Monday, 2/23, 6:30-8 at church
- Family Dinner, Tuesday, 2/24, 5:30-7:30, at church | RSVP Here
- Parents and Caregivers of Middle and High School youth, Wednesday, 2/25, 7-8:30pm at church
- As well as one-on-one support as requested, please email Rev. Jen Crow with any questions or requests.
Please know that the UUTRM team is here at our invitation, and they will be working with us through Wednesday, February 25th, with additional availability afterward. We trust your own wisdom about what you need to care for yourself and your spirit, and you are welcome to engage with the support they are offering in whatever way feels best for you.
