The Aging Brain and Maintaining a Meaningful Life: Workshop
Maintaining a meaningful life is a powerful antidote to an aging brain.
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in gaining a better understanding of the cognitive changes that may occur as the brain ages and strategies for continuing a rich and meaningful life even in the midst of this challenge.
The workshop will focus on:
- How to identify cognitive changes and what to do when you notice changes in yourself or others.
- The proven strategies for communication and behavior management.
- The importance of identifying what matters most to each individual in order to assist them in maintaining a rich and meaningful life.
The workshop presenter is Carol Stephens, PsyD, Licensed Psychologist.
Dr. Stephens has worked extensively with the geriatric population experiencing health and life transitions, often including cognitive changes. She worked as a psychology consultant in Long Term Care Facilities for 16 years, and is now working in an Allina Primary Care Clinic in Edina where she collaborates with health care staff to provide integrated services to seniors, and their families.
Carol is trained in systems theory and integrative strategies so she often works with “a team” including the client, their families, loved ones and medical providers. Her mission to make sure all players are on board in providing loving care and helpful interventions based on a good understanding of cognitive changes. This understanding is where we will Begin in the workshop.
She has graciously agreed to share the wisdom and strategies she has developed over her tenure. Please join us for this important workshop.
