Child Dedication at First Universalist Church
Unitarian Universalists believe that every child brings new life and hope into the world.
During the Child Dedication ritual, the congregation pledges itself to partner with and support parents and families in the religious upbringing of the child. Child Dedications take place during Sunday worship services twice a year. During the 2017-2018 church year, Child Dedication Rituals will be held on Sundays, Nov. 5 and May 13 at both services. Infants and children of members and those on the path to membership at First Universalist Church may be dedicated.
On the day of the Child Dedication, please plan to arrive 30 minutes before the service to meet with the ministers. They will discuss the meaning and details of the ritual with you and will take some time to get to know you and your child better. We will have seating reserved for you, your family and your special guests in the front pews. Parents, children to be dedicated, and siblings will be invited to stand on the chancel during the ceremony.
