The Weekly Liberal Oct. 4: Will You Take 5 Minutes to Check In?

In this week’s Liberal, Rev. Justin writes:
I recently restarted my meditation practice, after a three year break (following the birth of our youngest son); it feels good to resume! I use an App called “Headspace,” and over the course of the 20 minute meditation, I am guided to check in with my body, my breath, my emotions, and my wellbeing. This “check-in,” as I train my mind and body to slow down and pay attention, changes the shape of my day and how I move through it.
As you may know, we’re in the final week of our three week “All-In Annual Giving Check-In,” a time when we’re inviting the entire congregation to spend 5 minutes “Checking-In” on their Annual Giving to the church.
If you haven’t set up your annual financial giving to the church, this is the time to do it!
If you’re able to switch from a credit card to your checking account, and save the church the 3% fee we’re charged for the use of the credit card, this is the time to do it!
If you’re able to make your gift ongoing, year over year, this is the time to do it!
Our overall goal with this campaign is to close our budget gap, and invite the majority of church members to make their annual giving ongoing, so that our Annual Giving Drive will become obsolete, as giving happens year round, year over year.
So far, about 100 members have “Checked-In.”
If we haven’t heard from you yet, regarding your fall financial “check-in,” please do so now! As human beings, I believe we show what we care about and what we value by the level of attention we give to something. Will you please take 5 minutes to “Check-In” here on your annual giving to the church? Your “check-in” matters, and your generosity, and attention to the financial well-being of the church will help our shared ministry thrive.
Thank you!
See you in church,
Rev. Justin
