NEW DATE: Workshop: Active Hope
Please note: First Universalist Church has suspended all in-person gatherings in the building effective March 13 until further notice. Read about this decision here.
The Environmental Justice Team (EJT) at First Universalist invites you to join them in finding new ways to undertake the spiritual act of protecting the Earth, with a series of workshops this winter/spring.
“Active Hope: How to Face the Mess We’re in without Going Crazy” is a book by Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone that has sparked action to address the climate crisis. Macy is an environmental activist, author of eight books, and a scholar of Buddhism, systems theory, and deep ecology. Join us to take the four part spiral journey of expressing gratitude, honoring our pain, seeing with new/ancient eyes, and going forth. This workshop, inspired by the book, will engage the heart and mind.
Leaders: Roberta Haskin, retired DRE, chaplain, and UU Interim minister specializing in grief, loss, and family systems. Presently actively hoping to stop line 3. Betsy Allis, MPH, spent her career developing/managing programs to promote individual and community health. She’s a long-time activist with a special interest in plant-based diets as a powerful strategy to reduce global warming.
