The Growing Edge

Rev. Howard Thurman writes: “All around us life is dying and life is being born. The fruit ripens on the tree, the roots are silently at work in the darkness of the earth against a time when there shall be new leaves, fresh blossoms, green fruit. Such is the growing edge!” In this time when so much is transforming in the world around us, what growing edge are we encountering in our own internal landscape? What is it asking us to let go? To embrace? Join us for an inquiry into inner transformation and a (re)discovery of the abundance that surrounds us even in the most barren of times.

Join us for worship this Sunday, April 9, at 9:30 or 11:15 a.m.

April Worship Theme: Transformation
Karen Armstrong writes: “Religion is not about accepting twenty impossible propositions before breakfast, but about doing things that change you. It is a moral aesthetic, an ethical alchemy. If you behave in a certain way, you will be transformed.” When we dare to move beyond the known patterns and perceptions of our lives, letting the alchemy of love, listening and justice do its work, then we will be more than changed. The base metals of our lives will be transformed into something precious and flourishing. This is the purpose of religion, and the meaning of a religious life: to be transformed.
