June 25, 2023
Dr. Glen Thomas Rideout, Rev. Ashley Harness, Rev. Jen Crow

This Sunday, June 25, we have the unique opportunity to join with our larger Beloved Community at the General Assembly of the UUA in Pittsburgh for worship, “Ever Willing: Becoming the People Our World Needs.” Our own Dr. Glen Thomas Rideout is serving as Director of Music for the ministers convergence happening alongside the assembly. In the words of the UUA worship team, “The pandemic has wrought change and created uncertainty for institutions, like our Unitarian Universalist congregations, and our wider world. Who and what are we becoming, individually and collectively? Our GA Sunday service explores these themes as we gather in community to celebrate the best of who we UUs are.” While normally we use zoom for our online services in addition to livestream, the service on June 25th is available online as a livestream and can be found here at 10am CT. We’ll gather in the sanctuary to participate as a congregation with Rev. Jen Crow and Rev. Ashley Harness hosting the livestream.

ORDER OF SERVICE: available as a PDF here.

OFFERING: Give via our online giving portal, or CashApp. Make sure to designate that it’s for the “Offering Plate” fund.

June 04, 2023
Dr. Glen Thomas Rideout, Franco Holder, Lauren Wyeth, Rev. Arif Mamdani, Rev. Jen Crow

This coming Sunday, June 4, we’re celebrating Flower Communion, and we could use your help! Bring a flower to share with the community (don’t worry: we’ll have more flowers available if you don’t have one). We’ll make a beautiful arrangement with whatever flowers come! At the end, we each get to take a different flower with us as a gift and reminder of beauty in our unity and difference. This special ritual has been performed for years here at First Universalist. And this year marks the 100th anniversary of the very first Flower Communion ever!

Hear the Earth Call: a New American Humanism- in person and online at 10 a.m.

May 28, 2023
Dr. Glen Thomas Rideout, Franco Holder, Lóre Stevens, Rev. Karen Hutt

Our humanist roots encourage us to believe in “the common good” as reliably universal–a value that, deep down inside, we all share. What do we do when our experiences of life challenge this idea? The humanist influences of our faith date back centuries to African, Chinese, South Asian and European philosophers. But what kind of humanism do we need in America today? Join us for worship this Sunday, May 28 as we continue our May worship theme, Carry the Flame.

A Place to Start – in person, immediately after the service

During this 40-minute class, participants will learn about the foundations of our faith tradition and opportunities to get involved. The facilitator will be holding a green “Here is A Place to Start” sign at the front of the sanctuary after the worship services. We look forward to welcoming you!
