This Sunday Rev. Ruth MacKenzie preaches “Dear Everything” at both 9:30 and 11:15 AM services.

In the novel “The Color Purple,” Alice Walker writes: “I think us here to wonder, myself. To wonder. To ask. And that in wondering bout the big things and asking bout the big things, you learn about the little ones, almost by accident. But you never know nothing more about the big things than you start out with. The more I wonder, the more I love.”

This Sunday, we celebrate wondering and asking about the big things. We celebrate the wonderings of our Coming of Age youth and our New Members. We celebrate those threshold moments for us all, when you fall more deeply in love with the world, with yourself, and with the unnameable mystery.

May worship theme: Thresholds

The nature of thresholds is that there is one foot in what was, and one foot in what is to become. The present of thresholds is a lesson in pausing, noticing, remembering, and dreaming. This month we practice suspending our wish to know, and our penchant for planning, and surrender ourselves to the spiritual journey of not knowing, and living comfortably between worlds.
