Winter Solstice Celebration will be held at Sanctuary
Winter Solstice Celebration
“Community…Come Unity; We Have Light to Share”
Gather with us on Thursday, Dec 21, as we celebrate again the longest night of the year and rejoice in the returning of the sun. Our 37th annual Winter Solstice Ritual begins at 7:30 p.m. (Sanctuary opens at 7 p.m.).
There will be the opportunity to begin the evening with an Open Labyrinth Walk in the Social Hall beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the last walk beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The ritual celebration includes chants, solstice heritage and wisdom, a call to the directions, time spent in the darkness, music, and celebrating the returning of, and sharing of, light.
Children are welcome to participate, but be aware that we will spend 12 minutes in complete darkness, accompanied only by the drum beat. Parents are welcome to take young children to the lobby if they are uncomfortable during this time.
Following the ritual, join the merriment in the social hall with spiral dancing and light refreshments. Let us know if you are interested in volunteering for the event!
